Where we work

Two corridors. Local in both.

National plant hire firms run their fleets from Gauteng. We base equipment regionally, so the machine you need is hours away, not a day away.

Our story

Ngwana Mmu

“child of the soil”

The name comes from Taung, in the North West, where our founder is from. It is not branding — it is a statement about who this business answers to.

Mining and construction in this country have a long history of value being extracted from communities and banked elsewhere. Ngwana Mmu is built the other way round: locally owned, locally staffed, and reinvesting into the corridors it serves.

Today that means machinery, supply and technology. As the group grows, it means a minerals business rooted in the same soil.

Common questions

Straight answers

What is the difference between dry hire and wet hire?

Dry hire is the machine only — you supply a qualified operator and fuel. Wet hire includes our certified, mine-inducted operator, fuel and routine maintenance, billed as one rate.

How quickly can you get a machine to site?

Within the Rustenburg–Brits and Kuruman–Kathu corridors, typically same or next working day subject to availability. Because we base plant regionally, we are not shuttling machines from Gauteng.

Are your operators certified for mine sites?

Yes. Every wet-hire operator holds a valid competency certificate for the machine, and completes the site-specific induction before entering any mine.

Do you supply the documents our vendor database requires?

Yes — CIPC registration, tax clearance, B-BBEE certificate, COIDA letter of good standing and current insurance certificates are packaged and sent on request.

Do you deliver consumables to remote sites?

Yes. Mining Solutions supplies across both corridors, on a just-in-time basis where you would rather not hold stock.

Do you work with small-scale miners?

Yes, and it is a deliberate part of the business. Short-term hire and honest rates matter more to that market than long contracts, and we are set up for it.

Need a machine on site this week?

Tell us the job, the town and the dates. We will come back with a rate — not a runaround.
